How to Use the OpenVPN Connect App on Your Android Device to Connect to NordVPN Servers

Android offers APIs to developers that allow them to create virtual private networks (VPNs). These apps provide VPN protocols that the built-in Android client does not support and can allow you to connect to VPN services without any complicated configuration.

This article explains how to make use of OpenVPN on your Android device to connect with NordVPN servers. It also explains how to set up the connection using the NordVPN app and an OpenVPN profile. This is a more complicated method however it gives you greater control over the quality of your connection and mobile data.

To begin to begin, download the OpenVPN Connect app from the Google Play Store. Then, you will require the OpenVPN configuration files from your VPN service provider. These config files have a.ovpn extension and can be downloaded from the VPN provider’s website or by contact their live chat service for assistance. Once you’ve downloaded the config files, you can transfer them to your vdr providers Android device (or PC). You can download them directly to your device or use an application like ZArchiver.

Once you’ve imported the OpenVPN configuration files, open the OpenVPN app and click “+” to add an additional VPN profile. Select a server then tap “Connect”. Once connected then all Internet traffic is routed through the secure tunnel to the selected server. The app also displays the status and the details in the Status tab. The app has an option to keep the VPN connection active even when it is not being used.
