The Meaning of Parenthood
What does parenthood mean to you? Some say parenthood is more than simply bringing another child into the world. Parenthood is the act of creating a generation of compassionate citizens who make the world a better place. Would you agree or disagree? Why?

Would you consider yourself a compassionate citizen? If you do, what do you think makes you a compassionate citizen? If you are not, why don’t you consider yourself one?
CATEGORY: 18-22 years
Parent Involvement
“At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a childs’ success is the positive involvement of parents.”
-Jane D. Hull

Was (is) your parent(s) involved in your education? If yes, please elaborate on what that involvement looked like and what it meant to you. Do you think that it has had an impact on your educational or career outcomes?

If parent involvement was absent from your education, do you believe that it would have made a difference in your success or educational outcomes? If yes, how did you overcome that absence? Were there other adults (whether it be a teacher, coach, caregiver, etc.) positively involved in your education? If yes, what did that support look like and what did it mean to you?

Parent Involvement
Is parent engagement necessary for student success? Research shows that parent involvement in school and interests improves student achievement, reduces absenteeism, and teaches children the importance of education. Students with involved parents or other caregivers earn higher grades and test scores, have better social skills, and show improved behavior. Would you agree or disagree? Why?
