ESET Security Review

ESET Security Review

ESET is a solid anti-malware engine, useful firewall settings, a password manager with form filling, browser protection and excellent security tools for networks. Its parental control along with its secure browser and anti-theft tools are adequate, but nothing exceptional. It doesn’t offer VPN or microphone protection, but it does allow remote screen recording or camera access for a view of what a thief has been doing on your smartphone or laptop.

The app has an intuitive interface that is easy to understand and use by novices, but it also offers details and advanced features for those who need it. The company also provides outstanding support, which can be accessed via their website or directly from the client through the “support” tab located close to the bottom of the app.

The status bar on ESET Internet Security at the top displays the protection it offers to click to find out more your computer. It also gives you detailed statistics on the protection. If something major happens on your computer, or when you have to take action, the software gives simple and concise notifications on the desktop near the tray that is in the system.

However the anti-phishing tools of the antivirus were a little too vigilant and it blocked quite a few websites not listed on PhishTank which I trust. The program also automatically examines USB storage devices when they are plugged into our laptop. This was a bit irritating, as many other applications require permission.
