16 Oct Avast Ultimate Review
Avast Ultimate is a security application that has high detection rates and a host of other features. Its malware scanner earned a perfect score in my tests and its web protection stopped a lot of phishing sites that got past Chrome and Firefox’s default security. Other features include the Rescue Disk and a secure browser for online shopping and banking. Advanced tracker blocking is also available.
The suite’s user interface is easy to navigate. Its main screen displays an overview of its primary tools with clear icons to describe their functions. The color scheme for Avast is orange white, blue, and. It’s easy to read and pleasing to the eyes.
You can find detailed controls for each tool in the Explore menu. These include custom scans and boot time scanning and an automatic updater. You can also save a certain type of scan in the “Scan Center” so that you can run it again at a later time.
In addition to the more advanced features, Avast’s anti-virus can stop ransomware attacks by securing your system for suspicious activity, and then encrypting all files that could have been targeted. It can detect trojan horses (malicious programs that are disguised as legitimate software that enter your computer) and block them from running.
Avast’s security products are backed by 24 hours of live chat, email, and phone support. The free versions of the product are backed by a large knowledge base and community and paid plans come with advanced features such as identity protection unlimited VPN, USB protection and patch management.
